Structural Engineers
Steptoe & Johnson Office Building
Clarksburg, West Virginia
This project consists of a new four-story, 80,000 square foot office building on a sloping site in a new suburban office park. The building is a "build-to-suit" for a law firm and, thus, includes conferencing facilities, extensive floor depressions for ungraded finishes, a "monumental" tenant stair and extensive high-density file areas. The structure consists of composite structural framing with chevron and X-braced frames to resist lateral loads. Due to the sloping site and presence of existing deep, poor quality fills on one side of the site, foundations consist of traditional spread footings and drilled pier foundations. A structured ground floor slab is provided above the deep existing fill which occurs under approximately 40% of the building.
Erickson Retirement Living Office Building and Television Studios
Catonsville, Maryland
This project consists of a multi-function office building which includes a data center, television studios, offices and food service uses. The steel framed structure is four stories, plus a basement level, and is approximately 100,000 square feet. The structural design included floor vibration analysis in order to meet strict requirements for TV studios on elevated floors.
